08 Jan Heavy Duty Industrial Metal Shelving Units
Industrial shelving is necessary to keep warehouse operations in order, ensuring everything runs efficiently and smoothly. Industrial metal shelving units come in different weight ratings, shapes, and sizes; it can be used to meet a wide variety of needs and requirements. If you wish to learn more about the different types of heavy-duty industrial metal shelving units, then you are at the right place. Without further ado, let’s dig in.
1. Tool and Die Shelving – Heavy Duty
For heavier items, you will need the tool and die shelving. In this case, the term “heavier items” refers to items that require an overhead crane or a forklift.
This type of heavy-duty industrial metal shelving has two roll-out shelves, which can be extended for easy accessibility.
Tool and die shelving comes with a thick and reinforced frame, and the roll-out shelves measure 36” deep and 48” wide. The entire rack is made from 7 gauge steel, while 12 gauge steel is used for deck reinforcement. These shelving units come with holes, with which they can be anchored to the floor. The shelf clearance is 22”, with a loading capacity of 1,000 lbs. for each shelf.
Do keep in mind that some assembly may be required with the tool and die shelving.
2. Standard Shelving
The standard shelves are 48” wide and can accommodate a maximum of 600 lbs. per rack. This type of shelf is better suited for warehouses that have a high turnover rate.
No tools are required during the setup process, and the shelves can be locked into place using the clips provided.
The Standard industrial shelves have welded corners for additional strength and durability.
3. 4-Shelf Mobile Units
The 4-shelf mobile units can bear 1,200 lbs. per shelf. What’s interesting about these shelves is that they can be adjusted in 1” increments. The carts have casters between 2” and 5”, and come with braking casters as well.
When it comes to 4-shelf mobile units, you can choose between two options:
- 4-shelf cart with four posts and four shelves
- 3-sided cart with four posts and four shelves, and even comes with enclosure panels
4. Klip-It™ – Light Duty
This type of heavy-duty industrial metal shelving has been designed for those that have heavy-duty storage needs.
Klip-It™ saves a lot of money and time due to its simple assembly. Each unit has compression clips, with which you can adjust the shelves according to the items you want to store. These compression clips can be pulled off and snapped into place. They are that easy to use!
Due to the offset angle of the compression clips, the shelves can withstand heavier loads than the standard industrial shelves.
Klip-It™ shelves are made from turned cold steel, and the design makes use of triple bends on all sides for improved strength.
End and back panels can be found in closed units, and the starter units come equipped with two sway braces. Additional add-on units come with one brace, though.
This heavy-duty industrial metal shelving is rust-resistant due to its phosphatized coating, making maintenance and cleaning a breeze. Moreover, the coating protects the paint, allowing it to last longer with little to no flaking.
5. Industrial Boltless Shelving
This industrial metal shelving has been designed for quick assembly. As the name implies, it requires no screws or bolts.
Industrial boltless shelving gives easy access from all sides, and it does not have any cross bracing. One shelving unit has four shelves, and they easily snap together without any clips, bolts, or nuts.
Now that you know of the different types of heavy-duty industrial metal shelving units and how they function, you will find it easier to pick the best out of the lot based on your own needs and requirements.
Do keep in mind, though, do not cheap out on quality when choosing the type of industrial shelving unit you require. Stick to the best quality out there, and they will last you longer. Also, you will not have to worry about them breaking down either. After all, prevention is better than cure, right?
